"Give a little more love this Christmas"


The Enrichment Session, "Give a little more love this Christmas", was organised by the English Access Microscholarship Program - Georgia/Rustavi, SIQA on December 23, 2013. It's been a second day of giving love and sharing some Christmas spirit around. The session took its beginning during the workshop on December 19, when the students have had created colorful Christmas cards. On the session they have decided to give those wonderful cards to the people from the neighborhood. Some of them were confused, but mostly they were happy to have it :) Hope it touched their hearts and brought some Christmas spirit into the daily routines!
The session of the second day has started by the presentation about Christmas traditions in the USA, made by the US Peace Corps volunteer. After that, the students have had a lesson, conducted by the Access English Language Teacher, that was based on the Christmas commercial video. The learners were able to develop their creative thinking by answering Before/During/After questions and practiced narrative tenses, prepositions and vocabulary related to Christmas. 
And, of course, the session was a full package of fun with Christmas carols and songs karaoke! Even Santa (the US PC volunteer) came to greet our Access family with presents.

Christmas Card and craft Workshop


On the 19th of December 2013, English Access Microscholarship Program had an event of making Christmas Cards. EVS and Peace Corp volunteers   together with club members have made creative and beautiful postcards to the accompaniment of popular Christmas songs. The atmosphere of joy and love was easy to felt and for everybody it was unforgettable evening.

World AIDS Day

On December 1, 2013 in SIQA was organizing  the World AIDS Day. The event was held within the framework of the EU- funded project , implemented by the United Nations Children's Fund and the Social Union Bemoni.
Participants were SIQA local and foreign volunteers and civic clubs . They were walking to the City Hall distributing the AIDS red ribbon symbol, information brochures and stickers and presenting self made posters about fighting against AIDS and tolerance to people who are infected. 
During the same time in the SIQA office, at Megobroba Ave. 12 was running the testing process. Everybody could do a simple blood test , which is held securely and confidentially and gives in  20 minutes result of his HIV/AIDS status. 
Tests are free and will be continued every Tuesday and Wednesday for the next  8 months in SIQA office, Megobroba Ave. 12 between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.

In the evening event's participants let sky lanterns on the City Hall Square.

Thanksgiving Day

On November 28, one more unforgettable Enrichment Session was organised by the English Access Microscholarship Program - Georgia/Rustavi, SIQA. The students were actively involved into the number of interactive and fun activities. They have summarized information about Thanksgiving Day after Power Point Presentation provided by Peace Corp volunteer. The Access participants have also completed crossword, learned new vocabulary, but at the end of the session they have created beautiful Thanksgiving Tree and decorated it with their "I am thankful for" messages. All these activities were conducted by Access ELT in cooperation with volunteers from Europe.

St. Andrew Night in Siqa

In the evening of 29 th Noveber 2013 volunteers from Poland, France and Romania introduce to youths traditions of  polish celebration of St. Andrew's Day called "Andrzejki". During the mysterious party everybody had chance to know their future, thanks to prepared games. Girls were very excited about details about their future husband and boys liked the most hot wax pouring action. Evening was chance to think about future through  funny and pleasant way.

Trip to Imereti

On the 16th of November 2013 Siqa Mogzauri Travel Club hat trip to Imereti. During a day they had chance to see Sataplia nad Prometeus caves, Parliament building in Kutaisi and Motsameta, Gelati and Bagrati monastery complex. Group was attending evening masses at the monasteries. 
Club members took responsibility to be their own tour guides for each place visited, they searched and collected all the interesting info and shared it to everybody while visiting these places. Club came back late full of emotions and experience.

Access to My Future Success

On November 22, 2013 English Access Microscholarship Program/Georgia, Rustavi hosted Jerrold Frank, Regional English Language Offiser (RELO) for Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus and Moldova and Lika Gumberidze, English Language Programs Coordinator from the US Embassy Tbilisi, Georgia. Our special guests have attended scheduled Enrichment Session that was devoted to the students future career preferences - "Access to my future success". During the lesson were used some inovative language teaching technics, such as pair work, collaborative learning through group work, using authentic materials, contextualization, peer checking and other. The session was important not only by its topic, but also by the reason that the learners have had a chance to communicate with English Language teaching experts. At the end of the Enrichment Session, Access students were able to present their future job preferences and identify their interests orally and in writing. They have also summarized skills that must be developed for their successful future.

On - arialval training


Our EVS volunteers who are in Georgia for about one month went between 13th and 17th of November to On-arrival training to Sighnaghi.  Training was organized by SALTO, for volunteers hosted in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.   During those days volunteers had opportunity to get to know each other to built a network,  exchange ideas and first experience, learn about cultural differences and host region, motivate and inspire themselves to improve their voluntary work and personal goals.

Meeting of the Siqa Mogzauri Club

On November 1, 2013 was a meeting of Mogzauri travel club. The topic of discussion was: stereotypes while traveling. With the presentation members of the club were shown: what is a stereotype, the importance of  it while traveling and how much truth is in any stereotype. Polish volunteers prepared an interesting questionnaire, which explained a variety of stereotypes of different countries. Also maps with funny, common stereotypes about countries and short movies about polish stereotypes were showed.

Access Halloween Party, 2013

On the October the 31, 2013 took place Halloween Party organized by English Access Microscholarship Program - Georgia/Rustavi, in cooperation with the US Peace Corp and EVS volunteers from Poland and facilitated by Access English Language Teacher. Should be emphasized Access students strong motivation and great attitude! They've learned a lot through the fun interactive activities. After Power Point Presentation and video session the learners were actively involved into the brief discussion. They've also completed some tasks with additional printable materials. At the end of the session, coordinated by the volunteers, Access students created absolutely marvelous Halloween compositions and have made oral presentation on what they've learned.
