Gender equality workshop

In the 24th February 2014 EVS volunteers from France went to the school in Gardabani to make a workshop about gender equality. The purpose of the training was to familiarize the participants with more detailed information about gender equality. to show them stereotypes and give chance to debate of the traditional role of men and women.

The training was translated from English to Georgian and Azerbaijan languages.

The meeting was highly appreciated by the pupils who have raised awareness of gender equality.

Volunteering fair

On the 15th February 2014, SIQA was taking part in  volunteering exhibition in the Marriot Hotel in Tbilisi. There was chance to discus about volunteering in Georgia, to share experience and ideas. 

Such exhibitions helps young people to find interesting volunteering activities, as well improves their  start to professional career.

Event about Wielkopolska region

On the 14th of February 2014, polish volunteers organised event about one of the regions in Poland : Wielkopolska  - The Grater Poland. 

During the event participants had chance to learn about landscape, cities, cuisine and traditions of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship, where Ewelina and Mateusz were studying.

Presentation showed also the capital city Poznań with it's sightseeing place, historical background and modern leisure parks.

Gathered audience was delighted with the information that Poznań were beating the Guinness record in setting up the fire lampions in 2012, with about 12 000 lampions.

Patritipants learn also why this region is called: " Land of potato" and had chance to discover it by trying the traditional regional dishes: soup " Ślepa ryba" (Blind fish) and potatoes with cottages cheese "Pyry z gzikiem"

On the 4th of  February 2014 at 17:00 o'clock we invite you for a movie evening in SIQA. Shartava 4. This time we will see animated film : "The Croods" as usual in English with English subtitles.

Support for Ukraine

On the 25th January 2014 SIQA was one of organizers of city demonstration to show Georgian support for people protesting in Ukraine. The event took place in the main square of Rustavi.

Youth camp 15-19 January

On the January 15, 2014 started organized by SIQA youth camp.  The camp was leaded by "Civic Education and Teacher Training Program" project, which is funded by USAID, implemented by PH International and  - partner in the region.

Participants of the five-day camp came from seven municipalities in the Kvemo Kartli region, 24 schools, including: 12 of  Georgian and 12 of Azeri schools. There were 3 representatives from each school (civic education teacher and two senior pupils) During the camp they had training about  intercultural education , civic activities , planning and realization of projects. Camp participants developed specific projects to solve the problems in the municipalities. Project involves collaboration with local government representatives.

Civic Education and Teacher Training Program is designed to improve the quality of civic education in the school and increase youth participation in the process of building a democratic society.

SIQA's Carrnaval

On the 6th of January 2014 the SIQA's Carnival took place. The topic of the event was: "With the Grinch find the hidden gifts " During the evening participants, divided into two teams were taking part into several  competitions: sport, dance and singing. The presentation about SIQA's year 2013  and about Travel Club activities were showed. For the final laterns were fired and released into the sky.
